WITCHY WEDNESDAY: Nutmeg
Witchy Wednesday!
Nutmeg
If it seems like a lot of my posts are geared toward
novices, it’s because they are. It’s become hard to find beginner material in
my area, and I know several people who are starting out and need to learn more.
These novice posts are for them and others like them. I also know a few
dabblers who need to be reminded of what they’re playing with now and then, and
these posts are also for them. If you are a more advance practitioner who would
like to share their knowledge on subject I cover, please feel free to do so in
the comments.
Nutmeg is a spice from the Myristica fragrans tree, which is
native to Indonesia. The Myristica
fragrans tree produces the spices nutmeg and mace; nutmeg is the ground or
whole seed and mace is the seed covering.
Nutmeg is fragrant spice that has a slightly sweet flavor,
and it very versatile. It is used in countless dishes including pastries,
desserts, and meat.
Nutmeg has several medicinal properties, the most prevalent
being pain relief. Many people use nutmeg essential oil to sooth foot and joint
pain. It may also improve mood and heat health. It might have antibiotic
properties and is an antioxidant. Like good things, it should be used in small
doses.
Nutmeg is used magically to maintain health, to increase
luck, and to draw in money. It is a favorite spice of gamblers because of its
luck and money properties.
